Effective Date: March 8, 2026
Our Commitment
ExpressMe Communicator ("ExpressMe," "we," "our") is an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) app designed for individuals with speech impairments. We are deeply committed to protecting the privacy of our users — many of whom are children, individuals with disabilities, and their caregivers.
ExpressMe does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data whatsoever.
Data Collection
ExpressMe collects no personal information. Specifically:
- No names, email addresses, or contact information
- No location data
- No device identifiers or fingerprints
- No usage analytics or behavioral tracking
- No advertising identifiers
- No cookies or web beacons
On-Device Storage
All app data — including symbols, custom cards, sentences, admin passwords, and settings — is stored exclusively on your device using a local SQLite database. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or any third party.
Network Communication
ExpressMe makes no network requests during normal operation. The app functions entirely offline. The only network activity occurs during the optional In-App Purchase flow, which is handled entirely by Apple's StoreKit framework and subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
Text-to-Speech
Speech synthesis is performed on-device using Apple's built-in iOS text-to-speech engine (AVSpeechSynthesizer). No audio or text is sent to any server.
Photos and Camera
If a caregiver chooses to add a custom symbol using a photo, the image is stored locally on the device within the app's sandboxed storage. Photos are never uploaded, shared, or transmitted.
Children's Privacy
ExpressMe is designed to be used by children. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar regulations worldwide. Because we collect no data of any kind, there is no personal information from children to protect, disclose, or delete.
Third-Party Services
ExpressMe does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking services. The only third-party interaction is Apple's In-App Purchase system for the optional Pro upgrade.
Data Deletion
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you can delete all ExpressMe data at any time by:
- Using the Factory Reset feature within the app (requires admin password)
- Deleting the app from your device
Changes to This Policy
If we ever update this privacy policy, the revised version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Because ExpressMe collects no data, any future changes would only reflect new features or regulatory requirements.
